Rock and clay minerals the NASA Curiosity rover collected on Mars has been found to include life-enabling basics, according to an article on InformationWeek.com.

According to the article, analysis of the materials found carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen, phosphorus and sulfur, all chemicals needed to support life. The materials were taken from a crater area thought to once have been a river system or lake.
