Pharrell Williams’ headgear is attracting attention again and this time not in a good way. So he’s apologizing.

He’s on Elle UK in a Native American feathered headdress and, according to Indian Country Today, America’s leading Indian publication, the natives at home are not happy.

“Offensive and disrespectful,” said Melanie Sainz, in an open letter on ElleUK‘s Facebook page. That was one of the printable reactions.

Williams, who made a star out of the Vivienne Westwood Mountie-like hat he wore to the Grammys, is supposed to be part Native American (and Egyptian), but this didn’t seem to matter. So he issued an apology through his publicist today.
