Sacramento County Waste Management and Recycling has teamed up with Soles4Souls, “Keep California Beautiful” and STORAGEPRO to recycled 25,000 pairs of shoes by September 30.
Through the theme “Turn Up the Sole,” residents can find collection boxes in public areas throughout Sacramento County where they can drop off all types of shoes — athletic, running, dress, sandals, pumps, heels, work boots, cleats, dance and flip flops.
The donated shoes will be used to help individuals in need. Soles4Souls distributes resusable shoes worldwide, and the unusable footwear is recycled, keeping them out of landfills.
