All it seemed to take is a U.S. Open title to make Sloane Stephens turn from being self-protective in conversation to becoming the new media darling of tennis.
The 24-year-old Stephens spent the 11 months prior to Wimbledon in multiple types of casts, and eventually underwent surgery to repair a left foot stress fracture in January.
