Today marks 40 years since the first cellphone call was made, according to an article on CNET.com.

According to the article, the first cellphone call was made by Martin Cooper, former Motorola vice president and division manager, on the company’s DynaTAC phone. Since then the cellphone has obviously evolved, from the first commercial SMS text message being sent in 1992 to WiFi being added to cellphones in 2004. And in 2009, mobile data traffic reportedly surpassed voice traffic for the first time, and the mobile telecom industry passed the $1 trillion revenue mark.
