The Sac Cultural Hub’s CEO and founder, Pleshette Robertson, is being honored with one of seven 2016 MLK Difference Maker Awards, to be presented during Sacramento’s annual MLK Celebration Service Sunday, January 17th at 5:30pm at Capital Christian Center in Sacramento. The event is free and open to the public.
Robertson will be one of two of our region’s leaders to be honored for “Service and Advocacy”.
This year’s celebration theme is “We’re Better Together”, and its keynote will be delivered by evangelist Sean Smith, author of “I Am Your Sign”. In addition to the Difference Maker Award presentations, the event’s other highlights include the presentation of MLK scholarships for the Sacramento region’s most deserving young people, and performances by the MLK Celebration Mass Choirs.
Robertson has a history of distinguished service to the Sacramento region, having founded the Sac Cultural Hub Media Foundation in 2003 to develop and implement programs that educate, empower and train young adults and women of color. The Hub’s programs have included the annual Exceptional Women of Color Conference (EWOC), the Hub Choice Awards Show, and the Black Physicians Forum (BPF). Both the EWOC and BPF events offer scholarships to young people of color and professional development opportunities for area youth and young adults.
