Before I tell you about soul phenom Brian Owens, understand that I’m from Detroit.  As such, I live and breathe Motown.  Marvin Gaye was perhaps the greatest male vocalist ever, The Temptations’ classic lineup (featuring Eddie Kendricks and David Ruffin) are unmatched among vocal groups, and no one — NO ONE! — takes the stage and holds your attention like the one and only Diana Ross.

So I know the “real deal” when I hear it, and I am telling you that Brian Owens. Is.  It.

After one listen to his new project, Soul of Ferguson, I’m a new student of reincarnation.  Gaye’s spirit lives on in the body — and most importantly, the vocal chords — of Brian Owens.

How?  Where’d this guy come from??  Inquiring minds need to know!

I hope to bring you more information on Owens soon.  In the meantime, experience him for yourself this Friday, March 24th at the Gallo Center in Modesto.  Owens will present The Marvin Gaye Experience, and trust a genuine, born and bred Detroiter when I say the show is not to be missed!

According to the Gallo Center’s website, Owens will present 60s-era Gaye hits like “Can I Get A Witness,” “I Heard It Through The Grapevine,” and “You’re All I Need To Get By” also with latter day smashes like “Let’s Get It On” and “Got To Give It Up.”

See you there!

The Marvin Gaye Experience goes ALL the way down Friday, March 24th at 8pm.  For tickets or more information, go to galloarts.org.
