On Friday, June 28, Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department personnel will join members of neighboring agencies for the Northern California Law Enforcement Torch Run. The event is a fundraising activity that benefits Special Olympics Northern California.

Agencies will have their members running with their torch from various locations throughout Sacramento County. The runners are scheduled to come together at California State University, Sacramento at 9:10am and then leave that location at 9:20am. Arrival at the State Capitol is scheduled for 9:45am, at which time Sheriff Scott Jones will join dignitaries from neighboring law enforcement agencies to make remarks about the importance of the event.

A commemorative lap will be run around the State Capitol before the Flame of Hope makes it way to the University of California, Davis, for the opening ceremonies, which are scheduled to start at 7:30pm. This will be followed by a weekend of competition (June 29 and 30) featuring hundreds of athletes.
