Earlier this week, President Donald J. Trump signed the Preventing Animal Cruelty and Torture (PACT) Act, H.R. 724, into law. The PACT Act had previously breezed through the House and Senate.
“We have a responsibility to honor the dignity of God’s creation,” said President Trump.“With today’s act, we take the critical step toward being more responsible and humane stewards of our planet and all who we want to cherish and take care of, and all of those who live on it.”
That statement’s inclusion of the word “steward” suggests that President Trump didn’t actually write that quote. But does being a “humane steward of our planet” include paying attention to climate change?
And does taking care of and cherishing all who live on this planet extend to Mexicans? Or ANY people of color? Or women, as we grab them by the pussy? Or the trans community? Or ANY of the LGBTQ community?
