On behalf of the Sacramento Sister Circle and our allies, we want to give an update on the Boycott of The Mix Downtown, Cafeteria 15L/The Park Ultra Lounge, Iron Horse Tavern, and Firestone Public House.
On Monday, August 8, 2016, we met with the owners of these establishments, Mason, Alan, and Curtis Wong. The meeting was an opportunity for them to address our issues, incidents, concerns, and demands. The overall conclusion of the meeting is that they are willing to meet our demands and are committed to publicly addressing the boycott. They expressed specific interest in cultural sensitivity training of their security team, management staff, and beyond.

We truly hope that they take us seriously and make the steps necessary to rebuild the broken relationship with the broader African American Community of Sacramento and the many allies that stand with us.

As of right now, the BOYCOTT remains in full effect!!! We are committed to seeing this through and invested in making sure discriminatory practices against African Americans at their establishments are not tolerated at all. However, we welcome the verbally stated commitment by the Wong Brothers to end the explicit & implicit racism that many have experienced as patrons of their establishments.

Thank you for your commitment to the Boycott. We have received an abundance of support. Thank you to those who were victimized, traumatized, and discouraged and yet came forward to share your experiences with us. Please know that we support you all and look forward to making Sacramento a great place to live, work, play, and thrive for all!!!
