Volunteers are needed this Saturday, October 27, to help refurbish Elk Grove’s first transitional house, according to an official press release.

Volunteers are needed for the “Day of Caring” event to remove sheds, replace a fence, and for general
landscaping work.

In July 2012, the City of Elk Grove purchased a home in the Old Town area for transitional housing. The five-bedroom, three-bathroom property will provide a temporary place for homeless people to stay while they get their lives on track and work on finding permanent housing.

The “Day of Caring” event begins at 9 am on Saturday, October 27. Volunteer opportunities are available throughout the day.

For more information about the event, the location or to volunteer, contact Housing Program Manager Sarah Bontrager at 916-627-3209 or sbontrager@elkgrovecity.org.
