Next year is going to be a very good one for Viola Davis. Not only will the stellar actress get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame—the first star awarded in 2017—she’ll also win her first Oscar, if everything goes according to plan. Davis stars in Fences, the dramatic August Wilson adaptation directed by (and co-starring) Denzel Washington—and all signs are pointing to her winning an Academy Award for the role, the golden statue that’s evaded her much-deserved grip twice before.
