Cal Expo Announces 2023 California State Fair Dates
Cal Expo Looks to Continue Success of This Year’s CA State Fair & Food Festival
SACRAMENTO — Cal Expo today announced the dates of the 2023 CA State Fair & Food Festival, starting July 14th and ending July 30th.
2022 State Fair was a great success in attendance and food sales, after having to suspend the event in 2020 and 2021, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, in which the fairgrounds was the region’s leading response site, including testing, vaccinations and other emergency coordination. As Sacramento continues to move beyond the pandemic, Cal Expo hopes to further grow the State Fair to pre-pandemic levels.
“While we are months away, the excitement of putting together this major event for our state and region starts today,” said Cal Expo Interim CEO Tom Martinez. “We have a lot of work to do between now and July, but I believe the State Fair team will build on this year’s success, and we are pleased to bring our communities back together again.”
Just as the California State Fair did in 2022, it will be continuing with a premium show in lieu of the Sale of Champions. As we continue to recover from the difficulties of COVID-19, we will pay higher premiums to the exhibitors of the Grand Champion, Reserve Grand Champion, and the remaining two market animals in each specie. Returning will also be crowd favorites and State Fair staples that we all know and love, including some new and exciting programs and exhibits. Due to the positive feedback from our exhibitors, we will be hosting another exhibitor social during junior livestock week.
In the months ahead, Cal Expo will announce additional exhibits, features, and of course, the popular Toyota Concert Series on the Golden 1 Stage.
