The City of Sacramento received a one-time resource allocation of masks/face coverings from the California Department of Public Health to support the local business community with some much-sought personal protective equipment. There is no charge for these masks, however, there are some reporting requirements we need for record-keeping.

The City received 800,000 masks on Wednesday morning, May 20, 2020. Masks were made available for immediate pick up after organizations attended one (1) informational Zoom meeting.  We are relying on PBIDS (Property Business Improvement Districts), Chambers of Commerce, and Neighborhood Associations that represent areas without PBIDS to help get the masks to employees of businesses. This is a great opportunity for organizations to support their members by serving as the hub of distribution for the businesses within their network. We are using these organizations to help because we need to capture certain information from businesses including: Business Name, Address, Business Operation Tax Certificate Number, Point of Contact, District Business is located in, and Number of Masks Received.

Quantities of masks provided to businesses are limited to up to 10 masks per employee in order to maximize support across the business community. Distribution of the masks to Chambers of Commerce and PBIDs will take place at the North Area Corporation Yard: 918 Del Paso Rd Sacramento, CA 95834 on 5/20 and 5/21.

Businesses that are not represented by PBIDs or Chambers can contact 311 and pick up their masks at a City-operated distribution point. We have allocated 3 community centers located in various parts of the City including:  South Natomas, Coloma, and Belle Coolidge Community Centers. Days of distribution are Monday-Thursday (closed May 25 for Memorial Day).  The hours of distribution: 08:00 am-10:00 am at-will drive-through; 10:00 am-7:00 pm call for appointment.  The City is developing messaging (inclusive of elected offices) to ensure widespread awareness of resource availability to business community and relevant stakeholders.

Questions received from small businesses can be sent to smallbusiness@cityofsacramento.org or 916-808-7196.  This email and number are monitored daily and callers can expect to be called or emailed back in 1 business day.

Please encourage businesses to contact their applicable PBID or Chamber. If they are not connected to one refer them to 311. We want to get these mask to the businesses  ASAP.
