The City of Sacramento, Department of Parks and Recreation, Teen Services is looking for young people for its Workforce in Action (WIA) Youth Employment Program.

WIA provides work readiness training and paid employment opportunities for young people who meet income requirements. To be eligible to apply, you must:

  • Be between the ages of 16-19
  • Expect to graduate high school no later than December 2014
  • Be eligible for a work permit
  • Live within the City of Sacramento
  • Meet income requirements

WIA begins July 1, 2013, and runs through June 30, 2014. Once participants have completed their work readiness training, they are placed in a paid work experience. Work experience environments vary and include employment opportunities in government offices, private businesses, retail establishments, and the outdoors. Career pathways focus on administrative and support services, human services and the outdoors.

The application deadline for the program is Friday, May 31, 2013, at 4pm. Applications must be returned to the Belle Cooledge Community Center, 5699 South Land Park Drive, in Sacramento.
