Congress returned to Washington this week after its annual August recess, but unfortunately negotiations on a stimulus package that includes small business relief remain at a standstill. The Senate blocked a so-called “skinny” COVID-19 relief bill that included some small business measures, but the bill lacked critical provisions to bolster small businesses that have previously been proposed and was not comprehensive enough to ensure it could be passed by both chambers.

This emphasized the urgent need for lawmakers to come together on a meaningful agreement. As CEO John Arensmeyer said in a statement this week, “Each day that Congress fails to come to a bipartisan solution is another day closer to some businesses breaking point. The time for action is now.” CLICK HERE to read full statement.
