DOCO is proud to debut an exciting new tourism marketing program designed to encourage and welcome tourists to visit the thriving center located in the heart of downtown Sacramento and adjacent to Golden 1 Center. The new tourism program was recently unveiled to international tourism operators at the U.S. Travel Association’s IPW, a leading travel industry trade show that drives $5.5 billion in future travel to the United States.

“Deliberate programs designed to attract and appeal to tourists visiting Sacramento are a smart strategic move that benefit the region’s residents,” said Mike Testa, President & CEO of Visit Sacramento. “Tourism is already a multi-billion-dollar industry for Sacramento that will continue to grow exponentially in the coming years.  In fact, it is tourism, and the hotel taxes that visitors generate, that fund many of the projects that the locals enjoy—from the recently improved Memorial Auditorium, to the under-construction Community Center Theater, to the proposed investment on the Old Sacramento Waterfront.”

Tour operators who take advantage of DOCO’s valuable new program will provide vouchers to their clients when they send travel documents electronically. To redeem the vouchers (that are available in English, Spanish, Portuguese and Chinese), travelers will visit the front desk at the Kimpton Sawyer Hotel and show a valid passport or out of town identification card. Visitors will then receive a DOCO branded welcome gift, a list of shopping and dining incentives, and a Traveler Perks card (to show to each retailer to receive their incentive). Some of the participating DOCO establishments include Burger Lounge, Echo & Rig, Getta Clue Store, Popbar, Pressed Juicery, Punch Bowl Social, Macy’s, Sacramento Kings Team Store, and Yard House.

In addition to obtaining vouchers from tour operators and travel agents, travelers can also receive the vouchers through participating local hotel partners. To date, five Sacramento-area hotels have signed up to participate in the exciting new program, with more expected to join. Visitors can also download the valuable vouchers at www.docosacramento.com/visit.

“We applaud efforts that drive tourism to DOCO and Sacramento’s downtown core,” said Christi Woodards, DOCO general manager. “Sacramento is now ‘on the map’ as a stand-alone tourist destination and is included in a growing number of lists that highlight top places to visit. We’re proud and excited to welcome visitors to DOCO so they can enjoy the unique experiences our valued tenants have to offer.

Centrally located in the heart of downtown Sacramento, DOCO was developed in partnership by JMA Ventures and the Sacramento Kings. The thriving outdoor plaza is a must-visit entertainment, shopping and lifestyle destination that showcases some of the very best the city has to offer in terms of retailers, bars, restaurants, office space and more. Guests can enjoy shopping at a fantastic mix of retailers, indulging at amazing restaurants, bars and eateries, and being part of engaging events and activities that help to make DOCO a dynamic community gathering place.
