Co-Chair Carol McGruder is very hopeful. “I am delighted by this victory, this is solid public health policy that supports our efforts to prohibit mentholated and flavored tobacco products. Comprehensive tobacco control laws work synergistically to change community norms and have far reaching effects in protecting ‘Black and Brown children’ from the tobacco industry and lifelong nicotine addiction. San Francisco is a large metropolitan city, I’m certain more cities will follow they’re courageous lead and we’re here to lend support.” The AATCLC has provided technical assistance and expert testimony in efforts to help pass Tobacco 21 legislation in Detroit, Chicago, Berkeley, and San Francisco.
The AATCLC effectively assists municipalities with tobacco control initiatives, for more information; please contact Y’Lonn Burris at yburris@aatclc.org.
