State of Black Health Regional Forum 2022 successfully concludes in Oakland

Dozens of people from the California Bay Area and beyond attended this year’s State of Black Health Regional Forum on December 1st at Oakstop, a Black-owned venue.

The Center for Black Health & Equity’s decision to take the State of Black Health Regional Forum to Oakland, California was a no-brainer. In the 1960s, the Black Panther Party —which originated in Oakland — released a ten-point program called “What We Want Now! What We Believe” expressing the needs of the Black community.

Today, many of those points align with The Center’s mission to promote health equity for people of African descent, which showed throughout the forum.

After a warm welcome from our executive director, Delmonte Jefferson, the one-day event took off with Keynote Speaker, Wendy Barrington PhD, MPH.
