Students will graduate from PG&E’s new PowerPathway™ Pole Climbing Capstone program on Friday, June 22 at PG&E’s Oakport Service Center in Oakland.
The innovative class teaches skills apiring utility workers and through classes like this, PG&E is cultivating and preparing individuals for high-demand positions at PG&E and throughout the energy and utility industries. Students from Oakland’s Cypress Mandela Training Center and Workforce Institute, a Division of San Jose/Evergreen Community College District, are the first to graduate in this three-week pole climbing course.
A new pole climbing training facility was recently built at PG&E’s Oakport Service Center in Oakland to provide a training location for students participating in the program. Upon completion of the PowerPathway Pole Climbing Capstone, students will be better prepared to compete for jobs such as pre-apprentice lineworker within the utility industry.
The graduation will take place Friday, June 22 from 9:30am-12pm, with pole climbing from 10-11am and graduation ceremony at 11:15am at PG&E’s Oakport Service Center, 4801 Oakport Road, in Oakland.
