A new study has found the jail time African Americans face is 60 percent longer than white Americans when jailed for the same crimes, according to an article on AllGov.com. The study found in federal cases, black defendants received an average sentence of 60 months, while white defendants were given 38 months. Additionally, prosecutors were about twice as likely to enforce mandatory minimums on black defendants as on white defendants.
