To celebrate Ghirardelli’s 160th anniversary, home cooks are invited to enter the Ghirardelli Chocolate Championship recipe contest at the 2012 California State Fair, held July 12-29 at Cal Expo in Sacramento, according to a press release issued by the California State Fair.
Registration deadline is June 1 and entries will be judged on July 26.
Desserts can reportedly be of any sort and must feature a Ghirardelli premium baking product. The judges will be looking at the story behind the dessert – Is it an old family recipe? Is it your kids’ favorite? Did you make it up just for the competition?
Entries will be judged on appearance, taste, creativity and ease of preparation.
First prize is $500; second through fourth prizes will be $250, $150 and $50, respectively. Additionally. the top four finishers and another contestant will be chosen at random to each receive a Ghirardelli gift basket.
