Roberts Family Development Center (www.RobertsFDC.com) seeks entries for their 2nd Annual Cereal Sculpture Contest at their Suits & Slippers event, scheduled for September 14, 2011 at the Market Square Lobby at Arden Mall.

The contest is open to all Sacramento artists, professional and amateur.  Submissions will be evaluated by RFDC management and a community arts panel.  After 10 finalist selections have been chosen and sculptures have been created, the sculptures will be displayed during the 7th annual Suits & Slippers event from 7:30AM-9:00AM on September 14, 2011 for judge voting.  The winning artist will be awarded a $250 Gift Card to the Arden Fair Mall. Second place will be awarded with a $150 Gift Card to the Arden Fair Mall and third place will receive a $75 Gift Card to the Arden Fair Mall.  Final selections are made at the sole discretion of Roberts Family Development Center.

Sculptures must be made from General Mills Cereal and artists may use glue, string and other adhesive materials in their creation, as well as paint.  Event partner, General Mills, will provide gift certificates to help cover purchase cost of cereal.  In honor of the Roberts Family Development Center’s 10th Anniversary, the theme is to portray what the RFDC does/means for the community   – for example: someone may create a computer lab made of Cheerios and other cereals. Artists are encouraged to visit both the www.RobertsFDC.com website or their Center at 770 Darina Way, Sacramento, to learn more about the Roberts Family Development Center.  All entries remain the property of the artist.
