Your road trip checklist may include sunscreen, in-car entertainment and luggage — but safety experts say you may be missing something important: A car emergency kit.

The Automobile Association of America can rescue hundreds-of-thousands of stranded motorists on a given holiday weekend, spokesperson Tamra Johnson said. Many need help due to dead batteries, flat tires and lockouts.

In the event of an emergency, the AAA recommends you should be prepared with a roadside emergency kit. These items will keep you fed, ensure sure you can call for help and enable you to make basic repairs.
