Sac Cultural Hub envisions a world that celebrates the joy of having and raising healthy brown babies within the African American community.

There is a place in all of us that tingles when we see a baby. Babies ignite a natural sense of meaning, a connection to life, relationships with others, and a sense of ourselves. We feel it most when we see them sleeping, playing, and sharing their love with a warm hug. Babies open up our minds, hearts, and senses. A baby so small, innocent, fragile, and full of new life. The Loving Brown Babies (LBB) campaign is a way to stay connected to this place as we celebrate black family life and strive to create healthy and safe environments for all children.

LBB is a social media campaign designed to connect mothers, fathers, grandparents, step-parents, extended families and communities with life affirming stories about daily pleasures, experiences, and actions we take in protecting and preparing children of color to live their best. It is our desire to create a network of care givers that can discuss and define for themselves solutions to common parenting issues while supporting each other. LBB illuminates the importance of positive pregnancy, safe sleep and healthy home environments for babies, healthy relationships, and resources available to prevent brown babies’ lives from being cut short. The lives of all children are precious and together we can do more to ensure they are happy, healthy and equipped to discover the talents and gifts they bring to the world.

The LBB campaign is a part of the efforts led by the Steering Committee on Reduction for African American Child Deaths (RAACD) – Black Child Legacy Campaign which began in Spring of 2016. The aim of the RAACD is to reduce African American child deaths in the greater Sacramento region by addressing four critical issue areas for black mothers, fathers, and communities 1) Homicide Related to Child Abuse and Neglect; 2) Third Party Homicide; 3) Deaths Related to Perinatal Conditions; and 4) Infant Sleep Related Deaths. The RAACD is funded by the County of Sacramento, City of Sacramento and First 5 Sacramento, and is managed by The Center at Sierra Health Foundation.  The LBB campaign is produced and managed by the Sac Cultural Hub Media Foundation.

The Loving Brown Babies (LBB) Social Media campaign is focused on highlighting and engaging families around the pleasures of family, babies, motherhood, fatherhood, and communities raising African American children.
