Don’t miss 45th annual Black Family Day event on the UC Davis Campus

Don’t miss the 45th annual Black Family Day event on the UC Davis campus taking place on Sat-5/21 from 12 pm to 5 pm. Black Family Day 2016 is fun for everyone of all Ages and will be a great interactive event. **THIS IS A FREE EVENT NO TICKETS REQUIRED**

This is a time of festivity and joy as students congregate on the quad in the warm spring air. Black Family Day began during the spring of 1971 when students from the Black Student Union held a BBQ on the quad. Their intent was to celebrate themselves and to take a stand against the hxstorically and culturally exclusionary ideologies on campus.2016 marks the 45th anniversary of this monumental step towards black empowerment and strengthening of our families. The family reflects the resilience, diversity and openness of black culture. Over the years we have hosted countless lectures, speakers, entertainers, entertainment groups, vendors, etc. There will be a variety of vendors selling food, merchandise and sharing information about their organizations and clubs. This is a FAMILY event, so we encourage everyone to bring their whole family. We also will be having a Children’s Fair which will include a jumper, face painting and other fun events that children will love! Bring your family and come enjoy joyful music, good food, and nice weather while we celebrate!
