Apply Online Now for Sacramento Emergency Rental Assistance Program

Program pays past due rent and utilities for low income renters and landlords impacted by COVID-19

Renters in Sacramento County who are struggling to pay overdue rent or utilities can get some relief through a program offered by the City and County designed to help low income families impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Sacramento Housing and Redevelopment Agency (SHRA) is accepting online applications for Phase 2 of the Sacramento Emergency Rental Assistance (SERA2) Program through March 19, 2021. Landlords can apply for assistance on behalf of their tenants and tenants may apply on their own behalf. The online application is available in multiple languages at www.shra.org/sera.

To be eligible for the rental assistance, applicants must be renting housing in the City or County of Sacramento, have household gross annual income at or below low-income 80 percent of the area median income, and must have at least one household member that is unemployed or has experienced a reduction in household income, incurred significant costs, or has experienced a financial hardship due to COVID-19, in addition to other eligibility requirements. Families that applied for the previous round of SERA assistance last fall may apply for the Phase 2 funding.

More details are available at www.shra.org/sera.
