Call to Action: California Black Health Network is Calling for your Support by Monday June 22nd!
CALIFORNIA BLACK HEALTH NETWORK (CBHN) IS CALLING FOR YOUR SUPPORT BY MONDAY JUNE 22ND!
California Black Health Network strongly supports SB 277 (Pan and Allen) – a California bill that seeks to improve childhood immunization rates in the state.
The bill removes the personal belief exemption (PBE) that is currently allowed for immunizations required for school or child care enrollment.
Recent attacks on the measure have been vicious, unfounded, and distort the science and history of childhood immunization within our community. Attacks on specific African-American legislators who support the bill are particularly heinous and should be completely ignored.
Due to parents not vaccinating their children, there has been an increase in these deadly diseases. For example, according to the CDC there have been more cases of measles in January 2015 than in any one month in the past 20 years.
We are asking you, our colleagues in health, education and specifically Black Community leaders, to let your voices be heard in support of SB 277. Please use the attached sample letter and FAX in a letter of support to your Assembly Representative by Monday, June 22, 2015. Or, use the sample script, and make a call to your Assembly Representative’s office ASAP. We have included a link below so that you can find the Assembly Representative in your area.
It is important that you ACT by Monday, June 22nd!!
