DID YOU KNOW? April 8-9 > ACLU Lobby Day, March & Rally in support of AB 392 – WILL YOU BE THERE

DID YOU KNOW? We NEED YOU to SHOW UP and SHOW OUT for the California Act to SAVE LIVES for ALL of US! CHANGE CALIFORNIA’S DEADLY USE OF FORCE LAW

Citizens of Sacramento and throughout California must stand up, take notice, READ, and show SUPPORT for AB 392, which would update an antiquated law from 1872 to change the legal standard for police use of deadly force.  Police officers should avoid using deadly force whenever possible. But, right now, officers can legally use deadly force and kill someone even when they have other alternatives. AB 392: The California Act to Save Lives, introduced this year by Assemblymember Shirley Weber (D-San Diego), will make clear that police officers should only use deadly force when they don’t have other options. It is a common-sense bill modeled after best practices already in place in some departments – and that we now work to reduce police killings and save lives.
