6th Annual Northern California Black Physicians Forum taking place on Fri-3/11 from 6:00 pm to 9:30 pm at UC Davis School of Medicine Education Building, 4610 X Street in Sacramento. About our KEYNOTE PRESENTER

Dr. H. Westley Clark – Dean’s Executive Professor of Public Health at Santa Clara University, who recently retired after 16 years as the Director of the Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT), and more than 30 years in the federal government. His long and distinguished career has had significant impacts on the research, practice, policies and programs in the treatment of substance use disorders. He worked closely with the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy on the implementation of the President’s Drug Strategy, tackling important issues such as getting treatment to pregnant and post-partum women, reducing recidivism among individuals in the criminal justice system, and increasing choice of treatment options – including recovery support services — for individuals with substance use disorders.

About our SPECIAL GUEST SPEAKERS

Deborah Peterson Small – Executive Director of Break the Chains: Communities of Color and the War on Drugs, a public policy research and advocacy organization committed to addressing the disproportionate impact of punitive drug policies on poor communities of color.

Dr. Lakeisha Jenkins – Founder and CEO, The Kiona T. Jenkins Foundation of Natural Health who holds a Doctorate in Naturopathy, a B.S. in Holistic Nutrition and is a registered professional herbalist with the American Herbalist Guild.

Dr. Darin Latimore – Associate Dean of Medical and Resident Diversity, UC Davis School of Medicine. He is also Clinical Faculty at Cares Community Health.

Alana Mathews was appointed by Governor Jerry Brown as the Public Adviser for the California Energy Commission in June of 2013. A former Deputy District Attorney for Sacramento County, Ms. Mathews began her legal career prosecuting a broad range misdemeanor and felony cases including DUI, theft and drug related offenses, domestic violence, attempted murder, and various assault crimes.
