The SOL Project (SOL) advocates for healthy, smoke-free communities for African Americans and other populations who suffer disproportionately as a result of social conditions and tobacco use. SOL is also committed to engaging and developing African American youth advocates as agents of social change. Established in 2007, the SOL Project partners within the community to encourage local governments and boards to adopt and implement tobacco control policies that protect against harmful exposure to smoke or aerosol from plant based or synthetic products and limit the sale of menthol and flavored tobacco and vape products. SOL is located in Sacramento, California and serves 14 Northern California Counties that are considered the “Gold Country” Region.
SOL is searching for a Project Coordinator who is a highly organized person who communicates well both in written and oral form. This candidate must have experience organizing or facilitating collaborative partnerships with community based organizations, youth organizations, K-12 school institutions; or community residents in advocacy or policy efforts. The Project Coordinator is responsible for complex project management, including development of educational materials, meeting coordination that leads to public health policy change.
