Sacramento ’s Most Esteemed Women to be Honored for Contributions to Business and Community

SACRAMENTO (September 15, 2009) —  For one day only, over 30 of the Greater Sacramento Valley and Northern California’s most notable women will be honored for their contributions to both the business world and community.  The 2nd Annual Black Exceptional Women’s Networking Brunch hosts the “Exceptional Women of Color Retreat Conference” which will be held on Saturday, September 26 from 8 am to 5 pm at the Holiday Inn I-80 Northeast located in Sacramento at 5321 Date Avenue.  Presented by Sacculturalhub.com and THE HUB Magazine, the event will once again set out to recognize local and ordinary women of color who are on the move in their careers and making a difference in their communities. MCs and hosts for the day include Sacramento ’s favorite gospel radio host, Tommie Goss of 103.5 thebomb’s Gospel Express Show and Neketia Brown, Spokes Model for Sacculturalhub.com.

Pleshette Robertson, CEO & Founder of Sacculturalhub.comThe conference, themed “Women of Color Changing the Face of History”, is one of Sacramento ’s most anticipated events of the year. Over 500 participants are expected and activities for the day will include workshops, DIVAS Talk Show panel comprised of local professional and esteemed women, book signings, vendor exhibits and networking.  The 2009 conference honorees represent several industries such as politics, hair and fashion, social reform, business, health and entrepreneurship.  Founder and producer Pleshette Robertson notes “This year’s conference and our honorees are just examples of community leadership how this year’s event will serve as a fundraiser for two local non-profits of whom the Sac Cultural Hub Media Foundation is proud to support as our 2009 Human Benefactors: Carrie’s Touch Breast Cancer Early Detection & Prevention Program (www.carriestouch.org).  And, Robertson is encouraging all women to bring gently used suits and dresses that they no longer wear for the clothing donation to be made to the Women’s Empowerment organization (www.womens-empowerment.org).

The keynote speaker address will be given by Margaret Fortune appointed to the California State University of Board Trustees by Governor Schwarzenegger in March 2008.  Margaret is currently the CEO and President of Project Pipeline (www.projectpipeline.org) and as Robertson proclaims, “Fortune represents how the power of education promotes leadership in our community!” Award tributes will be made by Councilwoman Bonnie Pannell in the morning during special recognition ceremony.  In addition, Vice Mayor Lauren Hammond will make a special appearance to speak about the importance of African-Americans’ participation in the upcoming 2010 census.

Admission to this extraordinary event, which includes an early riser continental breakfast, brunch, and afternoon appetizers is only $65 per person and $120 per pair in advance.  Onsite registration will be $75/person.  Tables of 10 are also available for $600.
