RSVP for 7th Annual Sacramento Community Book Forum

RSVP to attend the 7th Annual Sacramento Community Book Discussion special event under the auspices of the UC Davis 2019-20 Campus Community Book Project (CCBP) taking place on Tues-Jan 28th from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm at Underground Books, 2814 35th Street in Sacramento. This event is free and open to the public.

The CCBP was initiated at UC Davis to promote dialogue and build community by encouraging diverse members of the campus and surrounding communities to read the same book and attend related events. The book project advances the Office of Campus Community Relations (OCCR) mission to improve both the campus climate and community relations, to foster diversity and to promote equity and inclusiveness. The 2019-20 CCBP addresses the topic of addresses the topic of violence-gun violence, and features Another Day in the Death of America: A Chronicle of Ten Short Lives by Gary Younge.

Guest speakers at the 7th Annual Sacramento Community Book Forum – Q&A Panel Session will focus on the impact of gun violence in the African American community and will include:

  • Moderated by Dr. Jann Murray-Garcia, Founding Faculty Member & Assistant Health Sciences Clinical Professor at the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at UC Davis
  • Pastor Les Simmons – South Sacramento Christian Center
  • Rolanda Allaha Wilkins – Founder of Earth Mama Healing
  • Dr. Lawrence Winn – Director of the Transformative Justice Education Center and  Faculty in the School of Education at UC Davis
