Smoking is one of our greatest public health challenges. Through the targeted marketing of menthol and new emerging flavored products, tobacco, vape and hookah industries are destroying the health and well-being of Black lives for generations. And now under the stressors of the Covid-19 Pandemic, people are using tobacco as a coping mechanism driving rates of use higher than ever before.

The Intergenerational Smoking and Detrimental Impact on Black Communities webinar will debunk myths vs facts, provide perspective from Black key opinion leaders on the impact of smoking in the Black community, and provide an opportunity for leaders to participate in our local – Sacramento County, state and national community advocacy campaigns and policy efforts moving forward towards the end of sales and use of these deadly products.

Public Health Leaders from the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, National Medical Association, The Links, Incorporated, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated., American Heart Association, Campaign for Tobacco Free Kids, Saving Our Legacy, African Americans for Smoke-free Safe Places, University of California and California State University will speak as part of a panel discussion. As a participant, you will have the opportunity to ask questions, offer suggestions and participate in upcoming community advocacy efforts.
