About our special guests:

Dr. Kristee Haggins is community healer, African-centered psychologist and professor who takes a holistic approach to healing mind, body, spirit and community. For over 25 years, she has focused on Black mental health and wellness, noting the impact of racial stress and trauma on Black bodies. Dr. Kristee teaches doctoral level courses in multicultural counseling and therapy skills, helping to develop culturally competent future psychologists. She consults with and provides trainings to agencies and organizations and provides monthly community healing circles for people of African ancestry. Dr. Kristee is a founding member of Safe Black Space and a trainer for Emotional Emancipation Circles (EEC).

Kristene (K.N.) Smith is an award-winning author, publisher, and screenwriter. Her creative, lyrical flair sweeps across pages of urban fantasy and action-adventure in exciting, edge-of-your-seat narratives. She also has over twenty years’ experience in communications, brand strategy, and creative design as an award-winning communications consultant. Mental Health California is her signature nonprofit community project, one that is personal considering she is a family member with lived experience. Kristene is the creator and director of the Mental Health for Boys and Men of Color initiative, the Champions of Mental Health Awards Dinner, and impactful awareness forums and programs for underserved communities. She is also the editor, creative director, and publisher of Mental Health California Magazine.
