Internationally celebrated Nigerian author Chinua Achebe has died at the age of 82, according to an article on USAToday.com.

According to the article, Achebe was also a statesman and dissident who “gave literary birth to modern Africa” with the book “Things Fall Apart” and helped “define revolutionary change in his country.” He reportedly died following a brief illness.
