The Sojourner Truth Multicultural Center will be joining Sacramento’s FREE Museum Day celebration taking place this Sat-2/7 from 10 am to 4 pm. In addition to guided tours of the 2,000 linear feet of FABULOUS African American-oriented murals, there will be special art exhibitions: young people’s interpretations of diversity, 15 local artists’ paintings and sculptures of Sojourner Truth, photography on loan from the Sojourner Truth Institute in Battle Creek, Mich, and the work of Sacramento artist Gerald O. Simpson, who goes by GOS. Children’s activities will include a paper-and-fabric diversity quilt, gardening in a Sojourner Truth “seeds of change” cup and making Sojourner Truth dolls, bookmarks and wall hangings. There will be face painting for kids and performances by student jazz musicians and Aztec dancers.  The Sojourner Truth Multicultural Arts Museum is located at 2251 Florin Road, Sacramento. Miss Black Sacramento Scholarship Pageants Rehearsals begin Sat-Feb 14 from 12-3 pm at Sacramento High School, 2315 34th Street @ Y Street (enter and park in the Pavilion -gym- parking lot on Y Street). Rehearsals held in rooms P13 & P14.
