This weekend, The Blue Note is home to Grammy winning vocal ensemble Take 6. At press time, tickets are still available for tonight and Saturday.

Take 6 has been at it for over 30 years, and their latest project, 2018’s aptly entitled Iconic, may be their best album. It is comprised of 10 immediately recognizable R & B and pop classics, originally recorded by a diverse set of artists including Earth Wind & Fire, Eric Clapton, DeBarge, Christopher Cross, LTD, and The Spinners.

Upon Iconic’s release, founding member Claude McKnight (Brian’s big brother) filled me in on the new album.

“Because we have a national and international audience and following, we tried to branch out even farther and say ‘What 10 songs could we go almost anywhere in the world and sing, and people would immediately know them,” McKnight shared during our EXCLUSIVE interview.

Take 6 is sure to perform tunes from Iconic this weekend. Hopefully, they’ll toss in classics like “Mary,” “Biggest Part Of Me,” “Spread Love,” or “I-L-O-V-E-U.”  I’ve never seen the legends live.  Everyone from Boyz II Men to Pentatonix has been influenced by them.

I’ve got to get to Napa this weekend!
