A California judge on Thursday said the murder trial of former rap mogul Marion “Suge” Knight will begin in January without any further delays, a move that was welcomed by Knight.

If all goes as planned, Knight will be tried on murder and attempted murder charges just about three years after he was arrested in early 2015 after he ran over two men outside a Compton burger stand, killing one.

The Death Row Records co-founder has been in jail ever since, except for multiple trips to court for hearings and to the hospital for various ailments. He’s also changed attorneys several times since he was arrested, leading to more delays.
