A new state-commissioned report has found African-Americans across California have concerns that their mental health assessment and diagnoses are inadequate, according to an article on SacBee.com.

The report’s findings found African-American participants felt they did not have a good assessment from their provider to understand what their particular issues are. Participants felt there is a lack of culturally-proficient practitioners and providers, and community distrust is a barrier to accessing mental health care.
