Tonight’s performance by TLC at the California State Fair has been cancelled due to an illness in the band. Instead, R&B and funk legend Eric ‘EQ’ Young – who is well known for his slap bass – will perform on the Golden 1 Stage at 8PM. Anyone who paid for Reserved Seats for tonight’s original lineup will be automatically refunded.
TLC’s concert management team released the following statement:
“Unfortunately due to Chilli losing her voice, TLC must cancel their appearance tonight at the California State Fair. They were very much looking forward to performing at the State Fair this year and hope to see everyone soon.”
“While we are sad that we won’t be able to feature TLC tonight, we along with all other fans wish Chilli a speedy recovery. We wish to thank California native and R&B Funk legend Eric “E.Q.” Young for agreeing to step in on short notice to put on a great show for our visitors,” said Rick Pickering, Cal Expo General Manager and CEO.
“I’m so excited to play tonight at the California State Fair; it’s a dream come true!” said EQ, who is a California native from the Bay Area. “It will be a great show.”
All performances are part of theCalifornia State Fair Toyota Concert Seriesare free, although guests can pay a nominal amount to reserve a guaranteed seat close to the stage. The concert series features Sean Kingston, Tony! Toni! Tone! and Clay Walker, and more. Closing weekend features Country songstress, Martina McBride.
