Roseville, CA the Fastest Growing City in the Nation Deals with Diversity Through Dining

(Los Angeles, CA) –  The competition in the culinary world has always been fierce, but ultimately, it’s all about the food and the service. West Coast based, Chef Q, is best known for his signature style of Modern Comfort Food that’s a blend between California cuisine and southern country cooking; his recipes keeps the customer’s palate satisfied and wanting more.

Chef Q is no novice in the kitchen, he brings over 25 years of professional cooking experience to the table.  His roots began in a small town outside of Gainesville, Florida where he lived until the age of 18.   He began his journey with food, hanging in the kitchen with his mother, and continued to hone his cooking skills while working in the U.S. Navy. But it was his time of employment at fine dining establishments that raised the standards for his culinary training. After eight years of military service, which included the Gulf War, he landed a kitchen job in San Diego, California. It was in observing and learning various galley techniques that sparked his interest in becoming a full-time chef.

Following years of cooking for family, friends and the Navy, Chef Q took that heroic step to open his first eating establishment, Q1227 Restaurant on December 27, 2019 in Roseville, California. Roseville is the largest city in Placer County, California, located within the Sacramento metropolitan area. In 2019 the US Census Bureau estimated the city’s population to be 141,500 and the recent 2021 Census reports an increase to146,594. Chef Q is adamant that his eating establish function with the RIC principles: Respect, Integrity and Commitment where all customers are treated equally.

“I cook with love. I’m extremely grateful that through all of the concerns and emotions of customers to venture back into public settings, for them to make Q1227 Restaurant their choice place to dine is truly humbling. My job is to make it worth their while and show my gratitude from the time they walk through the doors until they leave,” says Chef Q.”

Q1227 Restaurant is a Black-owned restaurant in a 98% white community and was only opened for four months before the pandemic required them to close their doors. To keep business going during quarantine, the Chef modified his menu to accommodate ’To-Go’ orders. The restaurant was gaining its’ momentum and becoming established in the area, but even with local support they still witnessed an approximate 80% drop in sales prior to reopening their out-door dining in July 2020. The eatery is now fully opened and serving old customers and welcoming a stream of new ones. The multi-cultural staff extends Chef Q’s language of love to all their patrons with outstanding service.

Owning a small business in quarantine requires one to embrace a constant practice of flexibility and resilience. It’s those qualities transferred to the customers and staff that makes Q1227 Restaurant a special place to dine and work.  Mayor John Allard & The City of Roseville recently presented Chef Q and Q1227 Restaurant with a certificate of recognition for serving his country and community with excellence.  Q1227 Restaurant ranks high on Yelp’s list of Top 50 Places To Eat in Sacramento and has also been featured in Style Magazine; receiving exceptional reviews for its’ great tasting food and service.
