(Sacramento, CA) The largest Northern California Blood Drive will be back at Cal Expo on Friday, June 16. The annual “Dia de Donar Sangre” Blood Drive is hosted by Univision 19 and BloodSource. Donors will save a life and receive lots of FREE stuff; a California State Fair ticket, a commemorative T-Shirt, my BloodSource Rewards, and delicious food donated by Chick-fil-A.

The event takes place from 8:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Cal Expo, in buildings C and D. To get there, enter through Blue Gate at Challenge Way and Exposition Blvd. Parking is FREE for the blood drive.

Univision 19 will be on site to broadcast live during the blood drive. Over the years, Univision 19 has helped bring in the more than 16,000 participants who make this event so special. During the event, donors learn about the importance of donating blood and joining Be The Match®, the national marrow registry for those ages 18-44 years old.

According to BloodSource, Hispanic donors have a much higher incidence of Blood Type O which is the most requested blood type product from hospitals supporting patients who need blood. BloodSource also adds that donating blood is safe, easy, and takes about an hour. Donors must weigh at least 110 pounds, be at least 17 years old and be generally healthy. Donors must bring a photo ID and should drink plenty of fluids before donating.

Visit bloodsource.org for more information on how your simple donation can save lives.
