Introduction to the Hip Hop Culture – The Six Week Breakdown Starts Monday
The Leadership Institute at Allen Temple presents “Introduction to the Hip Hop Culture” on Mondays from March 28th through May 9th from 6:30pm to 9:45pm.
This course explores the history, aesthetics, mechanics, and politics of rap music and Hip Hop Culture. The course will look at the policial and social landscape in the 1960s and 70s that proceeds Hip Hop and help give birth to the culture. Instructors will attempt to connect the dots and see how the political and social landscape shapes and impacts Hip Hop today. And the course will look at the major elements and definitions that have come to define Hip Hop Music and Culture.
The course is led by Davey D, nationally-recognized journalist, lecturer, Hip Hop historian, and media activist.
