Did you know that you can still enroll for health insurance? You may be eligible for a Special Enrollment Period.

Covered California is offering a time-limited opportunity to enroll during special enrollment for consumers who did not realize there was a tax penalty in 2014 or learned they may face a penalty in 2015. From now until April 30, 2015, consumers are eligible to apply for health coverage during special enrollment. Call a Certified Enrollment Counselor at (916) 234-3589 to schedule an appointment for enrollment.

Below are some of the qualifying life events (CLICK HERE to see full lists) for special enrollment that apply year-round.

1. If you lose your health insurance because you graduated for any other reason.

2. If you move, including moving to or from another state or leaving incarceration.

3. If you get married or enter a domestic partnership (or get divorced or dissolve a domestic partnership)

4. If you have a baby or adopt a child.

If any of these life events affect you, you have 60 days to #GetCovered! Consumers have 60 days from the date on which the qualifying life event happens to enroll in a Covered California health insurance plan or change their existing Covered California plan. For example, if a consumer has a child on June 1, they have until July 31 to notify Covered California, complete an application for their new child, choose a health plan and pay for it. If they do not get health coverage for their child, they may have to pay a tax penalty.
