13 Easy Ways to Improve Your Immune System Naturally in 2013

Happy New Year family! Given the recent spike in flu incidences in California and across the country, I thought it might be helpful to highlight a few more options on how to stay healthy this season. In this article, I’m sharing with you 13 different and simple ways you can naturally boost your immune system. These are not new ideas. In fact, they are easy everyday practices that when adopted on a regular basis can make a world of difference for your health and may even help prevent you from getting the flu!

For the past week, I’ve shared tips on simple, easy, and natural ways to protect and boost your immune system!

Tip #8 – Drinking Water

The body is made up of 60% water. Therefore, Drinking water = a hydrated body. So how does water help your health and immune system? Drinking adequate amounts of water (at least 8 cups per day) helps flush toxins and brings oxygen to the blood to ensure that all body systems are functioning optimally. All year round we hear about the importance of drinking water. Surprisingly, during the winter months we actually need to drink more water. Here’s why, during the colder months of the year, we typically stay indoors where the air becomes drier than outdoors. We run heating systems, fireplaces and we keep the windows closed, not allowing the cooler moist air to circulate in, which leads to warmer drier air indoors.
