The American Basketball Association (ABA), the same league that brought you Dr.J, George “Iceman” Gervin, the three point stripe and the ever popular red, white and blue basketball, has expanded to Richmond, California.

The Richmond Rockets launch their inaugural season November 2011, playing most of 15 home games at the Richmond Memorial Auditorium. This will be first professional national sports team in Richmond.

The Rockets will bring top shelf professional basketball to its new home at the Richmond Auditorium. “This will be exciting, affordable family entertainment in the great city of Richmond” say team officials, “We want folks to bring their families out to have an action packed night out for the general admission of just $10”.

The ABA has been back in action since 2000. It has grown to have 90 teams across the United States, making it the largest professional sports league in the country.

The Rockets will be conducting a limited open tryout beginning July 30, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Richmond Police Activities League gymnasium, 2200 MacDonald Avenue in Richmond.
