The Annual Martin Luther King Jr. March and Celebration will take place on Monday, January 18, 2009 in Sacramento. Spread the word to your friends, relatives, and co-workers to join thousands of residents and visitors for the six mile march and a fun five hour celebration. All events are free.  The March will begin at 8 am at two locations in Sacramento.

Location 1: Oak Park Community Center, 3425 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd in Sacramento

Location 2: Grant High School, 1400 Grand Avenue in North Sacramento.

Following the March: job fair, health and educational information, arts and crafts vendor, and entertainment activities to take place at the Sacramento convention Center from 10 am to 3 pm.

Don’t miss the MULTI-CULTURAL TALENT SHOWCASE from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm directed by  
Pepper Von and Greg King. They will bring their unique flavorings to our multi-cultural talent showcase.

Bring your children to participate in the EDUCATION VILLAGE: EDUCATION & ACTIVITIES from
10 am to 2 pm that will include:

  • Exciting exhibits, movies, children’s artwork
  • Face painting, balloons, storytelling, crafts, and coloring books
  • Learning support dictionaries, thesauruses
  • Educational resource and positive encouragement books
  • US Army’s Rock Climbing Wall
  • Fun filled, hands-on activities such as our Civil Rights Pioneers Card Project for pre-school, elementary, middle and high school students
