Danielle Mone Truitt will be the star player in John Singleton’s drama series, “Rebel” on BET – a gritty police drama set in Oakland, California.  In an interview conducted by Michael P Coleman (http://ow.ly/BpBR301OsIV) Truitt, 35, says she’s thrilled about the new gig.  “I’m so excited to be starring as Rebecca ‘Rebel’ Cole in the new BET TV series Rebel,” she posted on Facebook.  “I believe that 2016 is the year of the Supernatural and God is showing OWT!  About to throw #BlackGirlMagic EVERYWHERE!” Growing up in Sacramento, Truitt never thought she’d star in a revival of Dreamgirls (as she did recently, in LA) or serve as the video reference for Disney’s first African American princess, The Princess & The Frog (as she did in 2009), let alone star in her own drama on BET.  She sang in her church choir as a girl, starting dancing in junior high school, and got involved in cheerleading, basketball, and theatre in high school.  She was majoring in psychology at Sac State when she took a theatre class and got bit by the acting bug. “My theatre professor said ‘You should think about doing a major,’  Truitt told the LA Times, “so I did my first play.  After that, I became a theatre girl.”   Truitt went on to star in several regional productions, including “A Raisin In The Sun”, “Aida”, and “The Music Man.” Truitt was STUNNING at the 2016 BET Awards in a very stylish and beautiful violet dress on the #GreyCarpet.  From Truitt’s Facebook page, she writes:  “Feels like I’m walking on water… ‪#‎BETAwards‬ ‪#‎RebelBET‬ ‪#‎TruittCanDoIt‬‪#‎GreyCarpet‬ ‪#‎BETRedCarpet‬ ‪#‎DreamsDoComeTrue‬”.  Follow Truitt at: facebook.com/Danielle-Mone-Truitt-152185214251, Instagram at @danitruittcandoit, Twitter at @Danimonetruitt

Richard Hallmarq was one of the featured designers on the Runway Show in the 2016 BET fashion and beauty experience (http://fashionatbetx.com) at the Los Angeles Convention Center.  Sacramento-based designer Richard Hallmarq’s passion for fashion earned him a legion of fans and industry raves during his star-making turn on Season 11 of Project Runway (that aired in the Winter 2013) with 16 designers . Hallmarq opened a retail shop in Downtown Sacramento at 816 H Street in 2014 but now has expanded to a larger studio in Elk Grove located at 3117 Dwight Road, Suite 350. Since Season 11 of Project Runway, Hallmarq has gone on to travel the country with participating  in New York Fashion Week, doing trunk shows, fashion shows.  He founded a womenswear line in 2004 that officially became Richard Hallmarq in 2006. He began designing clothing in junior high. His first piece was a pair of boxer shorts for himself. He still has them — and they still fit. Prices range from $85 to $270. In one of his interviews (with reporter Carolyn Zinko of the San Francisco Chronicle – http://ow.ly/LpzU301LpvO) when asked about the best and worst part about “Runway”, Hallmarq stated: “The worst part was that I met so many amazingly talented people who I truly adored but I don’t get to see them as often as I would like.”  I absolutely love the fashion designs of Richard Hallmarq as he made me feel like a total superstar in one of his very popular black jersey knit top and skirt designs that he made for me in 2014. facebook.com/RichardHallmarq
