With decades of talk shows, a TV network, a magazine and a production company to her credit, Oprah Winfrey is among the most influential women in the world.That means there’s years of her clips and quotes that can be used in service of misinformation. And that is just what some are doing to support a fringe conspiracy theory.
“Why did Oprah say, ‘if the molester is any good the child wont know he’s been abused’… that’s a weird thing to say, right?” Mo Ńique posted on Facebook on Aug. 15. The post has more than 10,000 shares.
InfoWars shared a clip of Winfrey making the same claim titled “Oprah Says ‘Child Molesters Make Children Feel Good.'”
USA TODAY has previously debunked conspiracy theories that accused Winfrey of child abuse. There is no evidence that Winfrey supports pedophilia.
